Kindergarteners.

This is the conversation in the car on the way home from school with my 6yr old Kade.

K- Today in the lunch line a boy hit me and another boy in the privates.

Me- What did you do?

K- Well, the devil took over me and I hit him back in the privates...Wait, no I didn't...Ummmm

Me- Sounds like you need to think about what the truth is because we only tell the truth in our family. (my kids are sooo sick of hearing that, I am sure)

K- Well, I did hit him back...Now my eyes are getting water in them...But I feel good inside because I told the truth. I had a bad consequence because I had to lose recess. Did I do the right thing? Are you mad at me?

We talked about what he could have done instead of hitting him back, like get out of line or find an aid. He said none of that would have worked because he wanted to be by his friend.

I wanted to laugh, probably because the devil took over me.

I am glad that he realizes which feelings come from the devil and from Jesus. And about good and bad consequences. There might be hope for him after all. Smile.

I got a call from the principal letting me know that the other boy started it.

It was nice that I heard about it from my 6yr old before I heard it from the principal. And the stories even matched. I know some adults who could take a lesson from that. Smile.
